UPLA: encuentro cultural con Rafael Dumett

Los estudiantes y docentes de la Universidad Peruana Los Andes tendrán un encuentro cultural con el escritor Rafael Dumett, autor del libro betseller el “Espía del Inca”, el certamen será a través de Cátedra UPLA virtual con la conferencia: “Cúspide y ocaso del Imperio de los Incas”, evento cultural que será difundido a través de la página oficial de la universidad y estará acompañado de la reconocida escritora huancaína María Teresa Zuñiga
El galardonado escritor peruano Rafael Dumett estudió Lingüística y Literatura en la Pontificia Universidad Católica de Perú. Es autor de El espía del inca, la historia de un miembro del servicio secreto del Imperio incaico al que convocan para que rescate al emperador Atahualpa de unos extranjeros que lo tienen en cautiverio. Una novela cuyo rigor histórico transporta al lector a uno de los momentos más decisivos de la historia del Perú y, de hecho, de toda América: la conquista del territorio de los incas. De esta manera, Dumett, nos muestra una historia alternativa de la colonización en forma de novela, inspirada en la historia verdadera de la conquista de Sudamérica por los españoles.
Rafael Dumett, escritor y además profesor universitario peruano y residente en San Francisco (EE.UU), tiene raíces indígenas y europeas, encarna la heterogeneidad de la experiencia “latina”. Tanto como educador como escritor, vuelca su energía en tratar en los aspectos más complejos de la identidad y la cultura latinoamericana, como en su película Both (2005), que examina la experiencia del inmigrante a través de los ojos de su protagonista intersexual.
En reciente entrevista, resalta que deseaba emprender una obra histórica peruana, y decidio escribir sobre Felipillo, uno de los muchachos indígenas que sirvió de traductor a los españoles y los incas. Y utilizó a este personaje como punto de partida para su investigación. Y empezó a leer sobre él y quedó fascinado. “Y, por intermedio de él, fui conociendo a otros personajes interesantísimos y el universo me ganó. Abandoné la idea de la novela y pensé en escribir una pentalogía, es decir un grupo de cinco obras de teatro que compartieran los mismos personajes, con cien actores en escena. Pero fue muy claro para mí que sería dificilísima montarla así que, por razones prácticas, decidí volver a la idea original de escribir una novela, que me tomaría casi once años concluir”, nos dice Dumett.
“El imperio de los incas comenzó cuando los quechuas, que vivían en la zona del Cuzco, lograron derrotar al grupo étnico chanca, que vivía en la zona del actual Ayacucho. La independencia de todo Latinoamérica se selló cuando las tropas independentistas y las tropas españolas se enfrentaron en Ayacucho. Luego, cuando el Perú se enfrentó a Chile en el siglo XIX, el único foco de verdadera resistencia estuvo en Ayacucho”.
