La Comunidad Universitaria de la Universidad Peruana Los Andes realizó una ceremonia especial al haber logrado el Licenciamiento Institucional. los actos se realizaron en la ciudad de Huancayo y la filial de Chanchamayo (La Merced), con la presencia de las autoridades, estudiantes, docentes, graduados, trabajadores administrativos y las principales autoridades de la Región Junín.
La ceremonia estuvo presidida por el Rector encargado Dr. Rubén Tapia Silguera, quien estuvo acompañado por los miembros de la Asamblea Universitaria, y al cual tuvo realce en el evento, la presencia de las principales autoridades civiles, políticas, militares y religiosas de la Región e invitados de los distintos Colegios Profesionales de la Región Junín, que se realizó en el campus de Chorrillos.
El certamen estuvo enmarcado por la publicación de la Resolución de la Superintendencia Nacional de Educación Superior Universitaria (SUNEDU) en el Diario Oficial El Peruano. Por el cual, se resolvió otorgar la licencia institucional por un periodo de seis años a la Universidad Peruana Los Andes (UPLA), luego de constatar que esta cumple las Condiciones Básicas de Calidad (CBC) establecidas en la Ley Universitaria.
DATO: La UPLA es una universidad privada asociativa, ubicada en el distrito y provincia de Huancayo, departamento de Junín. Fue fundada hace 37 años y empezó a funcionar hace 26. Cinco facultades la conforman: Ciencias de la Salud, Medicina Humana, Ingeniería, Derecho y Ciencias Políticas, y Ciencias Administrativas y Contables. Actualmente atiende 21 mil 387 estudiantes, con un 96,5% dedicado a estudios de pregrado. Por otro lado, su plana docente está compuesta por 876 profesionales, con un 36,6% en labores a tiempo completo. El 55% de sus docentes cuenta con maestría y el 16% con doctorado.
